FAQ
- What is a nakshatra?
- A nakshatra is a lunar mansion — one of 27 equal 13°20′ divisions of the ecliptic used in Vedic astrology. The Moon takes roughly 27 days to travel through all of them. Your birth nakshatra is the one the Moon occupied at your exact birth moment.
- Why is birth time important?
- The Moon moves roughly 13° per day, so it changes nakshatras every ~24 hours. Your pada (quarter) can change every 3.5 hours. An accurate birth time to the minute gives you the correct nakshatra, pada, lagna, and dasha — everything downstream depends on it.
- What is a pada?
- Each nakshatra is divided into 4 padas (quarters of 3°20′). Padas fine-tune the nakshatra's expression and map to the Navamsa (D9) divisional chart, which is critical for marriage and inner-nature analysis.
- Sidereal (Vedic) vs Tropical — which does this tool use?
- GenRasi Ai uses the sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa — the standard for Indian Vedic astrology. This is ~24° offset from the Western tropical zodiac.
