What is Mangal Dosha (Manglik)?

Mangal Dosha (also called Manglik, Kuja Dosha, or Bhom Dosha) is a classical Vedic astrology condition where Mars is placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of your birth chart — counted from the Lagna (ascendant), the Moon, and sometimes Venus. It is traditionally associated with marital friction or delay.

How does this calculator check for Manglik?

We compute Mars's house position from three reference points: (1) Lagna, (2) Moon, and (3) Venus. If Mars is in the 1/2/4/7/8/12 from ANY of these three, some form of Mangal Dosha is present. The severity increases when Mars is Manglik from multiple reference points.

What cancels Mangal Dosha?

Classical cancellations include: Mars in its own sign (Aries/Scorpio), Mars exalted in Capricorn, Mars in a friendly sign (Leo/Sagittarius), Mars in 4th house in its own sign, BOTH partners being Manglik, Jupiter or Moon aspecting Mars, or Mars combust. Most Manglik cases in modern charts are cancellable.

Is Mangal Dosha really dangerous?

Modern Jyotish interprets Manglik as a tendency toward marital volatility, not a sentence. About 50% of all charts have some form of Mangal Dosha. Severity depends on which of the six houses Mars occupies, Mars's dignity, aspects, and the 7th-house condition. A careful reading is essential.

Can I marry a non-Manglik if I am Manglik?

Classically preferred: Manglik marries Manglik (doshas cancel). In practice, many non-Manglik people marry Manglik partners with strong 7th-house support in their own charts. Consult a full classical matching, not just the Manglik label.

What are the best remedies for Mangal Dosha?

Chanting Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays, reciting Mangal Kavach, donating red lentils and jaggery on Tuesdays, fasting on 11 consecutive Tuesdays, wearing red coral (after careful testing). Kumbh Vivah (symbolic marriage to a peepal tree or pot) is recommended in severe cases before real marriage.
